Our hearts are still breaking for Australia. The devastation is far reaching and will take a great deal of time, money, and people for the country to recover. It's taken a toll on the environment with an estimate of 1 billion animals dying and now the surviving animals are in need of food because about 12.35 million acres of land have burned across the country. People's livelihoods and the country's economy are being hit hard without tourists wanting to visit the country. In addition, the death toll is at least 27 people (four of the casualties were firefighters) and more than 2,000 homes have been destroyed.
Recently, we put a match out with the hope that we could inspire as many as we could to support the efforts that are happening right now. Thanks to all of those that gave to the organizations that are on the ground helping in Australia. With your help and our match, we were able to raise an additional $3,660 on top of the $5,000 we already gave! Small amounts can make a great impact when we all come together.
There is still so much work to be done and the time for recovery is going to take a long time, and some things will never be the same. Keep following what's happening and make sure to support where you can.
